Alice Hallstrom Violin Teacher

Alice Hallstrom

The violin is my super power, joy, and gift.

From my first "Twinkle Twinkle" at age 2 to today, I'm thrilled by what's possible with four strings and a bow. A violin can laugh, cry, sing, scream, dance, and love. As a violinist, I can explore and express the full range of human emotions and experiences.

Musicians paint with sound - bringing life, movement, and energy to silent canvases. Fleeting notes of melodies, harmonies, and dissonance momentarily capture our attention while leaving lasting impressions on our souls.

As a violinist, I seek to translate, transform, and transcend the notes and make music that will melt the stars.

Violin student with musical giant

From My Scrapbook

Here's a fun photo from my past.

I'm the little girl. Do you recognize the giant behind me?

It's Itzhak Perlman, 16-time Grammy winner and violin virtuoso. This photo is from ~1985 when he was at the peak of his solo concert career.

At the time, my father worked as publicist for the Utah Symphony in Salt Lake City. When he heard Itzhak was coming to perform, my parents whisked me away to his rehearsal along with my tiny violin.

Afterwards, Mr. Perlman was generous enough to meet me and pose for this photo.

Thanks to all the parents who give phenomenal opportunities to their kids.

And thank you to all the musical giants who inspire and teach the next generation.
